Marie) now offer a train package that includes your stay in lodging and/or your Tour of the Line train tickets for yourself and your snow machine.

The first night of your arrival in Sault Ste. Marie you will stay one night at the Catalina Motel.  Catalina will have your train tickets when you arrive, and the next morning you will either be headed 295 miles north by rail to Hearst, or you will be starting your snowmobile journey.  If you need a trail permit you can purchase them on-line at http://algomatrails.com/trailpermits.php or at the front desk of Catalina. 

Taking Train North or South: If you are taking the train up and sledding back you will arrive in Sault Ste. Marie the day before your train departure.  The day of your train departure you will drive your sleds down to the rail yard by 8:00 a.m. to load load your sleds.  There is free parking at the rail depot for your vehicles.  You have the options of unloading your sleds at Hawk Junction (30 miles from Wawa, mile 165), Dubreuilville (26 miles from Missanabie, mile 185) or Hearst (295 miles by rail).  If you have decided on a northbound train, your return day in Sault Ste. Marie Catalina will look after shuttling you from the Shell gas station on Great Northern Road to your vehicles. If you have decided on a southbound train journey, the morning you ride out you will unload your sleds at the staging area 1 block up from Catalina, drive your vehicles down to the railway where they have a secured parking lot for your rigs, and Catalina will shuttle you back up to your sleds for your departure. The train departs year round Northbound on Thursday, Saturday, and Mondays's, Southbound Friday, Sunday and Tuesday's.

Hearst is a town of about 6,000 people.  If you are wanting to get away from the busy, city life and just want to relax, Hearst is the place to go.  

Passengers are permitted to bring on alcoholic beverages for consumption on the train.  You need to bring your own food on the train.  There is no food service on the train so please make sure you prepare to have breakfast before boarding the trian and bring lunch, drinks and snacks with you (enough food to carry you through the dinner hour).
